I got my copies of the last book I illustrated this week, so I thought I’d post some of my drawings. The cover looked a little different originally, as you can see here: http://chuckgroenink.tumblr.com/post/18079863278/from-something-im-working-on-right-now When I drew that, I didn’t know that the title would be in practically the same colour, so I basically just instagrammed it.
As for the interior illustrations, I was going to do those just digitally, but I got so sick of it, that I drew them all with pencil instead and used the digital versions I had as the colours.
These are so gorgeous. I can’t get over it.
Alright, ALL OF THESE ARE SO RELEVANT. But the first one- ALL THE TIME. Especially when they’re really good.
i always get nervous drawing in public and i cannot stand it if someone asks what i am drawing while i’m drawing. its like, why don’t you let me finish it, aND FIND OUT
The stick figure one…
ALL THE FUCKING TIME
Also when I’m drawing x thing, they ask what it is, then I explain and they start questioning me. “And why is he standing like that? Why does he have wings? Put a beard on him, I say it will look good. What is he wearing? Why?”
:’D Lord save me.
JESUS… this world is so small and everyone is so similar. It is ignorant of me to have ever thought I was alone on any of these problems. My liiife….
Story of my art life. Uuuuhhhhg, the stick figure one. Every. Goddamn. Tine.
I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more.

Not knowing what to draw, I turned to fan art (aka, the easy way out). Usagi from Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai (<3) and Diesel from Tyson Hesse’s comic Diesel. If you haven’t read them, I highly recommend you do right now.

Looney Tunes - Feed The Kitty (1952) (x)
From Wikipedia article:
A segment of Feed the Kitty, in which Marc Antony believes that Pussyfoot has been turned into a cookie (and unaware that the kitten is actually perfectly safe), was the subject of an homage in the Pixar film Monsters, Inc. In it, monster James P. Sullivan (“Sulley”) believes that a little human girl he is protecting has fallen into a trash compactor and reacts nearly shot for shot as Marc Antony did in his cartoon short.
BAWLING
I remember vividly seeing this on the tv when I was very little and crying my eyes out when he thought the kitten was dead. Can’t believe I forgot about that until now.
